Kristy Lee Cook Biography

Country music singer and American Idol hopeful, Kristy Lee Cook is from the town of Selma, Oregon which is two hours and 45 minutes south of Eugene, just north of the California border. Indicative of a town with only 2000 residents, Kristy's family lived in a log cabin in the woods and raised horses. She has one older brother and one older sister.

Her amazing vocal talent was quick to be discovered. At the very young age of 14, Kristy opened for Glen Campbell at the Britt Festival in Southern Oregon. This was the first big up for Cook in the roller coaster world of entertainment.

Although she currently claims to have no record label, in the past Kristy has signed with BMI, RCA (Arista) and Britney. Cook was 17 years old when she signed with the production company founded by Britney Spears. Things were looking very good, but for some reason the wave eventually fizzled. After being dropped by her labels, the talented young lady moved to Dallas, Texas to continue her pursuit of becoming the next big country music star.

In 2005, Kristy released "Devoted", her first album. While in Dallas, she also sang the Star Spangled Banner for both the Rangers and the Mavericks.

A tomboy at heart, with her love for camping, fishing and kickboxing, Kristy also has a soft feminine side that, along with her very natural good looks, has landed her work in modeling and television commercials.

On January 15, 2008, Kristy Lee Cook appeared on the American Idol auditions in Philadelphia. The judges liked her from the moment she walked in the door. Paula nodded in approval while Kristy sang Amazing Grace. After cutting her off, Simon paused and muttered, "good." Then another short pause and, "excellent." "Very, very nice," Randy added. Simon - Yes, Randy - Yes, Paula, "absolutely 100% YES!!" Welcome to Hollywood.
